Is the school system delivering?
This EPI conference will bring together our programme of work on school structures in England to consider if current policy has achieved its stated objective of improving standards in education – and where it should go next.
This will include our multi-academy-trust (MAT) and local authority league table report, recently published in June, the research we are undertaking with Ambition School Leadership on the features of effective MATs, as well as our free schools report and our recent work on access to high performing secondary schools.
Speakers at the conference will include Sir David Carter (National Schools Commissioner), Amanda Spielman (HMCI), Lord Agnew (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System), Laura McInerney (Education Journalist), and Bene’t Steinberg (Cambridge Assessment) to respectively present their views on what the key system wide challenges are.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion chaired by Rt Hon. David Laws, with representation from groups across the sector – including Leora Cruddas (FASNA); Mark Lehain, Director, Parents and Teachers for Excellence, Interim Director, New Schools Network; Emma Knights (NGA), and Warwick Mansell (Education journalist).
The full line-up of speakers can be found below.
This conference is kindly supported by Cambridge Assessment and the Mercers’ Company.
