At this year’s Conservative Party Conference, the Education Policy Institute (EPI) has partnered with the Fair Education Alliance to co-host an invitation only reception.
The purpose and mission of the FEA is to harness collective action in order to close the disadvantage gap so that children’s educational success is not limited by their socio-economic background.
Earlier this year, the FEA and the EPI published a major report which examined the progress made in closing the gap in educational attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their more advantaged peers. The report found that over recent years there has been a dramatic slowing down in the closure of the disadvantage gap. Given this worrying trend, there is a real risk that we could be at a turning point, and that in the coming years we will see the gap widen further. This conference reception follows the launch of this report and will discuss solutions to its concerning findings.
To address the report’s findings, we have invited Michelle Donelan MP, Minister for Children and Families and former Education Select Committee member. Other speakers include FEA’s Chief Executive, Samantha Butters and EPI’s Executive Chairman, Rt Hon. David Laws.
This event is by-invitation only, to request a ticket please get in touch on: conference@epi.org.uk
** Note: This event will take place in the conference secure zone. To access the secure zone you will need to obtain a pass directly from the Conservative Party.**
