George Leckie is a Professor of Social Statistics and Co-Director of the Centre for Multilevel Modelling (CMM) at the University of Bristol, UK. His applied research focuses on the secondary analysis of administrative data on students and schools, particularly the Department for Education’s (DfE) National Pupil Database (NPD). A long-standing area of interest has been examining the DfE’s school performance tables, especially value-added progress measures, and contributing to debates on the use of such data to inform school accountability and choice. His methodological research centres on the development and dissemination of multilevel modelling methods for analysing institutional and regional differences in individual outcomes. George’s research has received funding from various UK and European funding bodies, and he has authored over 100 journal articles and delivered 75 short courses on multilevel modelling worldwide.
