The government’s soon to be published Schools White Paper will set out ‘an ambitious vision for improving outcomes for all pupils’. In particular, the White Paper is expected to focus on improving standards, increasing accountability and promoting inclusion.
In this context, in 2025, EPI and Capita ran a series of webinars offering insights into the key challenges currently facing schools, drawing on EPI’s Effective School Groups data tool – with these sessions having focused on a number of the key issues that are set to feature in the White Paper. The first webinar discussed Workforce sustainability in the modern school system, with the second considering the question of How is technology being deployed in schools to support inclusion? The final webinar in the series focused on the topic of How are schools responding to ever-tightening budgets and what do they need from policy?
This roundtable brought together a range of experts, including senior policymakers, school leaders and sector experts, to draw on the discussions held in the webinars and to consider what schools need from policy to address these key issues, and to what extent the White Paper might meet them.
