In April 2017 the Department for Education launched a consultation, ‘Analysing Family Circumstances and Education‘.
The document sets out a proposal to measure the educational needs of pupils from “ordinary working families” – described as those pupils that are not entitled to the pupil premium, but come from families that earn below median incomes. The consultation’s stated aim is to learn more about such families, and to ensure that there is the ‘necessary insight’ to ‘better inform policy making’.
The Education Policy Institute has today published its official submission to the consultation. You can read the response here.
