Minister commends work of EPI Commission in mental health in schools debate

Health minister Nicola Blackwood MP has today commended the work of the EPI Independent Commission on Children and Young People’s Mental Health.

Speaking at a Westminster Hall debate entitled ‘Supporting children’s wellbeing and mental health in a school environment‘, which was led by Commission chair the Rt Hon Norman Lamb MP, the minister acknowledged the “extremely valuable” work undertaken on children and young people’s mental health.

The debate followed a speech by the Prime Minister which outlined a number of measures relating to mental health – including recommendations set out in the Commission’s ‘Prime Minister’s Challenge‘, launched in November.
