At this year’s Liberal Democrat Party Conference, the Education Policy Institute has partnered with AQA to hold a public panel on: ‘Digital literacy as a core skill: empowering young people for modern life’
Every young person should be able to develop the digital knowledge and skills they need to succeed in modern life. Yet evidence shows that access to digital literacy remains uneven, with significant variation in students’ confidence and critical thinking skills. These early gaps have real consequences for learning, wellbeing and future opportunities.
A key question for policymakers is how curriculum, assessment and wider provision should evolve to ensure high standards for all learners, while supporting teachers and schools to adopt digital tools effectively and safely. And as the education system considers how to respond to rapid technological change, this panel will explore what a coherent, inclusive approach to digital literacy and digital transformation should look like.
Come along to this panel to hear from policymakers, education leaders and sector experts who will consider how the system can better prepare young people for a digital world. Panellists will explore how inclusive reform could help address wider challenges, including variation in digital access, online safety and the skills needed for future study and work.
