Labour Party Conference Reception: Closing the disadvantage gap – how we turn the page

23rd September 2024 23/09/2024 19:30-21:00

At this year’s Labour Party Conference, the Education Policy Institute (EPI) has partnered with AQA and The Sutton Trust to co-host an Education Reception: ‘Closing the disadvantage gap: how we turn the page’.

With pupils from low-income backgrounds currently 19 months behind their more affluent peers, how to tackle the disadvantage gap is one of the key challenges for an incoming government over the next parliament.

This evening of conversation will bring together politicians, school leaders and other sector representatives to consider what’s working well and what is needed for the future to build a more equitable system and close the gap for good.

We are delighted to welcome Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson MP; Minister for Early Education, Stephen Morgan MP, Anna Trewethey, AQA and Nick Harrison, The Sutton Trust to speak at the reception. We will also hear from Natalie Perera, EPI’s Chief Executive.

** This event is by invitation only, to request a ticket please get in touch on reception@epi.org.uk. **
