Hugh is CEO of the Elliot Foundation which, over the last nine years, he has grown from concept to one of the more successful primary trusts in the country with over 11,500 children and 2,000 staff in 28 schools. Over the same period he has helped many other Multi-Academy Trusts with their organisational design and effectiveness.
Before helping to build the Elliot Foundation, he ran commercial training businesses across Europe: initially for the IIR Group and subsequently for Reed Global. This work included turnaround and start-up projects in the UK, France, Sweden and the Netherlands as well as forging partnerships with Google, chartered sector bodies and respected international universities. In the 1990s Hugh launched and ran his own education business in Russia.
Throughout his career Hugh has volunteered in the state education and third sectors as a governor and trustee. He sits on the British Council Education Advisory Board and is a council member of the Federation for Education Development
