Peter has worked as a Government economist since 2006, including time in the Department for Education as Head of Teachers and Teaching Analysis, and Head of Economics, Evaluation & Appraisal at the Education Standards Directorate. He has previously worked as an economic adviser on Infrastructure and Growth Strategy at HM Treasury and as head of affordable housing economics at Communities and Local Government.
Peter has led teams responsible for the Government’s Teacher Supply Model, modelling to inform funding formulae for infant free school meals, the Department of Education’s biannual Teacher Workload Survey, and the OECD’s TALIS international survey of teachers. This research has resulted in several publications, such as an evaluation of the Pupil Premium and Summer Schools policies, and research on the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund & 16-17 Youth Contract.
Previously, Peter authored the Coalition Government’s Impact Assessment of the Affordable Rent reform of social housing and co-authored the National Infrastructure Plan 2011.
