The number of academies has grown rapidly over the last six years, with thousands of schools now
part of multi-academy trusts. This report considers the extent to which multi academy trusts have been effective in raising standards, and the variation in performance between individual trusts and local authorities. It is the first comprehensive analysis of school performance in multi-academy trusts and local authorities at both primary and secondary level.
