Conference and Events Internship 2019

The Education Policy Institute is an independent, impartial and evidence-based research institute that aims to promote high quality education outcomes for all children and young people, regardless of social backgrounds.

We are looking for a candidate to support EPI’s programme of events at each of the three main political party conferences. The successful candidate will be quick to learn, highly organised, able to administer events, and have a keen interest in policy and policy-making. Some experience of organising events is also required.

As part of our talented, passionate and high performing team you will:

  • Learn about the operation and running of a research institute, including how it engages with government, parliamentarians, the media and wider public.
  • Provide support to EPI’s comprehensive programme of events across the Party Conferences, including: drafting invitations and briefing notes; inviting key stakeholders and parliamentarians; managing logistics; and working with the communications team to effectively market the event.
  • Attend meetings with our event partners to discuss event content.

This is a 12-week internship between from 8th July to 28th September. This role pays the London Living Wage (£10.55 p/h).  To apply for this role please upload a CV and covering letter here.

The Education Policy Institute recognises and wants to meet fully the aims and commitments set out in its equality policy. This includes not discriminating under the Equality Act 2010, and building an accurate picture of the make-up of the workforce in encouraging equality and diversity. We need your help and co-operation to do this, by filling out a short questionnaire after you have uploaded your CV and covering letter. This questionnaire is entirely voluntary. Any information you do provide will stay confidential and will be stored securely. Only those monitoring job advertising and staff movement will have access to the data. Staff involved in sifting and interviewing for the post will not see your questionnaire.

Please contact amy.faux@epi.org.uk if you have any queries about the role, or alternatively call 020 7340 1160. Applications close at 17.00 on Monday 8th April. Interviews will take place week commencing 22nd April.

Testimonials:

Helena, Events Intern 2016

“I have learnt so much here and the experience has been made better by having such welcoming and talented colleagues to work with.”

Isobel, Conference and Events Intern 2018

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at EPI as the Conference and Events Intern. I felt very welcomed by staff at all levels from the outset. My weekly meetings with the Head of Fundraising and Events allowed me to work independently, while providing structure. The nature of the work means you are busy and juggling many different speakers, events and emails, but the Communications and External Engagement Team were very supportive and willing to help.

“It was an exciting chance to learn about the education sector and be in contact with MPs, academics and partners. I feel that I was given lots of responsibility, which I really enjoyed and meant that at the end I was very proud of the conference schedules EPI ran. As a growing and ever-relevant organisation, I would highly recommend working at EPI and personally had a wonderful summer as an intern.”
